What is cold laser?
There is substantial clinical evidence published in peer reviewed medical journals that laser therapy (LLLT) can stimulate repair of tissue, reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

What is it?
Laser and LED beams of light can stimulate the cells in the body that repair tissue, reduce inflammation and transmit pain.
How LLLT / cold laser therapy works:
Light can stimulate or inhibit cellular function according to it's intensity and the time applied.

Lasers and LED's produce intense beams of light at specific wavelengths. When the right wavelength at the right intensity is used at the correct anatomical location for the right amount of time you can stimulate repair, resolve inflammation and reduce pain.

One of the primary mechanisms is the effect of light on cytochrome c oxidase and the consequently the unbinding of nitric oxide and release of ATP leading to improved cellular function. For anti-inflammatory effects we have found a measurable reduction in PGE2, TNF Alpha and IL-6 in the synovia surrounding damaged tendons and for analgesia high intensity lasers over nerve supply can inhibit fast axonal flow.

In addition, high intensity single point lasers can release trigger points and treat acupuncture points instead of needles.

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state you’ve already experienced thousands of times. It is not manipulation, mind control, or magic.  It simply is a tool that will allow you to tap into the power of your mind and take control of your life.

Hypnosis is a highly-relaxed state in which a person’s conscious and subconscious mind are focused and receptive to positive suggestion and imagery.  It’s an integrative process of rebuilding habits and behaviors, as well as emotions, beliefs, and feelings.  For chronic pain patients it is about breaking the pain loop, gaining control and working with the neuroplasticity within the brain to regain their lives.

Have you ever found yourself completely immersed in an activity to the exclusion of everything else? That is a natural trance state.

Common examples of this are while watching a movie and becoming transfixed in the plot.  Or perhaps working intently on a project and finding that the last four hours have flown by without your conscious awareness. Perhaps you have been reading a book and been so transfixed that you did not hear someone come in and speak with you.

These are the simplest explanations of what hypnosis is - no mind control, no giving away of secrets, not sleep, just a safe and relaxed experience that is pleasant, refreshing and beneficial.  Hypnosis is the original 'mind-body' medicine.  Hypnosis is non-invasive, it is a 'drug-free' treatment option and it is a powerful tool that can help you obtain your personal or professional goals, and help to get your health back on path.

Can anyone be hypnotized?
Yes! Anyone who is willing to be hypnotized can experience the state. When working with an experienced professional, the techniques and program will be customized for you.

Will I lose control?

No. Hypnosis is a state of mind that requires consent. You will be aware of what I am saying during the session, and cannot be made to do against your own morals. You cannot be made to tell secrets while experiencing hypnosis.

I have a friend who tried hypnosis, and they said it didn’t work – what happened?

The success of your experience is dependent on two factors – the client’s willingness for change and the skills of the hypnotist.

If the client doesn’t have an honest desire for change then they are not going to have success.  (i.e. If a client comes in at the urging of a family member, but they are not ready to make a change for themselves then they are not ready or prepared to accept any suggestions for a positive change.)  However, if that client is tired of living in pain, tired of not being able to do the things they used to be able to do and they are ready for change – then they will have a positive experience and a positive outcome because they are primed for success.

Hypnosis is not a “one size fits all” process. Your hypnosis experience at Advanced Pathways Hypnosis will include a pre-session interview in which we will identify your goals and allow us to custom-design a program for your success.

Is hypnosis safe?
Yes. Hypnosis that is conducted by a trained, certified hypnotist or health care professional is considered a safe, complementary and alternative treatment. However, it may not be appropriate in people with severe mental illness.
